TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have assigned defensemen Kevin Quick and Scott Jackson along with forwards Chris Lawrence and Mitch Fadden to the Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced today. Jackson, Quick and Lawrence each spent the majority of last season with the Admirals.
Quick, 21, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound defenseman from Buffalo, New York, is entering his second full professional season. Last season with Norfolk, Quick appeared in 49 games, recording one goal and eight assists. Quick has now appeared in 67 career AHL games – all with Norfolk – recording one goal and 12 assists.
The former Tampa Bay third-round draft pick (78th overall in 2006) also made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season, recording one assist in his first six career NHL games. Quick also split 27 combined regular season and playoff games in the ECHL between the Augusta Lynx and Elmira Jackals, recording two goals and five assists.
Jackson, 22, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound defenseman from Salmon Arm, BC, appeared in 34 games with the Admirals in 2008-09, recording four assists as a pro rookie. The former second-round draft pick of the St. Louis Blues (37th overall in 2005) also appeared in three games with the ECHL Mississippi Sea Wolves recording one goal and two penalty minutes.
Lawrence, 22, a 6-foot-4, 217-pound right wing from Toronto, Ontario, is entering his third professional season. Last season, he appeared in 48 games with Norfolk, scoring five goals and three assists. The former Lightning third-round draft pick (89th overall in 2005) has now appeared in 101 career AHL games – all with the Admirals – recording ten goals and 14 assists. He also split ten ECHL games between Augusta and Mississippi last season, recording one goal and three assists.
Fadden, 21, a 6-foot-0, 174-pound center from Victoria, British Columbia, is making his professional debut this season. The former Lightning fourth-round draft pick (107th overall) concluded his junior career last season with the Tri-City Americans and Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League, recording 37 goals and 39 assists in 63 regular season games. He ranked ninth in goals, tied for seventh in power play goals (14) and tied for 22nd in points (76) in the WHL last season.
Fadden also led the Americans in post-season points with 16 (3g, 13a) in ten WHL playoff games. He appeared in 340 career WHL games between Tri-City, Lethbridge and the Seattle Thunderbirds, recording 136 goals and 182 assists.
