Admirals and Checkers to Square Off in Home and Home Series of Exhibition Games
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals and Charlotte Checkers today announced that the teams will play a pair of exhibition games in early October.
The Admirals will host the Checkers at Norfolk Scope Arena on Friday, October 1. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. This game will be the first in the American Hockey League history of the Checkers.
The teams will then travel to Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C., for a second game on Sunday, October 3. The puck will drop for that game at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets for the October 1 exhibition game at Scope are $8. Tickets will go on sale through the Scope Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com on Tuesday, September 7th. Admirals full season ticket holders and corporate partners may purchase tickets in advance for $5. A letter with more details on purchase privileges for full season ticket holders and corporate partners will be mailed later this week.
The Charlotte Checkers are the top AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and will join the Admirals in the East Division for the 2010-11 season. The teams will square off 12 times during the 2010-11 regular season. The Admirals and Checkers last played against one another during the 1999-2000 season when both were members of the ECHL.
The complete 2010-11 regular season schedule will be released by the AHL in the coming weeks.
