TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled forwards Marc-Antoine Pouliot (MAHRK an-TWAHN POO-l'yaht) and Johan Harju (YO-hahn HAHR-yoo) from the Admirals, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Pouliot, a 6-foot-2, 193-pound center from Québec City, Québec, had appeared in all 12 of Norfolk's games this season, recording four goals and 18 points. He leads the Admirals in scoring and is tied for fourth among all American Hockey League players in scoring while ranking third in the AHL with 14 assists. Pouliot also appeared in two preseason games with the Lightning this season, recording three shots on goal and seven penalty minutes. He was signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent on July 23, 2010.
Pouliot, 25, appeared in 35 games last season with the Edmonton Oilers, scoring seven goals and 14 points. Pouliot also skated in four games with Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons, scoring one goal and six points.
A sixth-year pro, Pouliot has appeared in 176 career NHL games – all with the Oilers – scoring 21 goals and 53 points. In 169 career AHL games between the Admirals, Falcons, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Hamilton Bulldogs, Pouliot has scored 55 goals and 147 points. Pouliot was drafted by the Oilers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Harju, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound forward from Overtarnea, Sweden, had also appeared in all 12 of Norfolk's games this season, recording seven goals and 16 points. A first-year North American pro, Harju leads Norfolk in goals, ranks second in points and is tied for eighth among all AHL players in scoring. Harju also played in four preseason games with the Lightning, recording one assist with a plus-one rating.
Harju, 23, played in 55 regular season games with the Moscow Dynamo of the Kontinental Hockey League last season, recording four goals and 18 points. He also played two playoff games with Moscow, recording a goal and eight penalty minutes.
Harju spent the prior three seasons solely in the Swedish Elite League with Lulea. He notched a career-high 27 goals in 55 games during the 2008-09 season. During his career with Lulea, he amassed 62 goals and 103 points in 204 career games. Harju also totaled 48 goals and 82 points in 92 games with Lulea’s junior team from 2002-06.
Harju, 23, also represented Sweden at the 2009 World Championships in Switzerland, recording two goals and four points. He was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round, 167th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
