Lightning Recall Marc-Antoine Pouliot from Admirals
TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled forward Marc-Antoine Pouliot (MAHRK an-TWAHN POO-l'yaht) from the Admirals, Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Pouliot, a 6-foot-2, 193-pound center from Québec City, Québec, leads the Admirals in points and assists. In 19 games with Norfolk, the 25-year-old has registered eight goals, 16 assists and 24 points with a plus-11 rating. He ranks among the top 20 of all AHL players in assists, points and plus/minus.
This is Pouliot's second recall to Tampa Bay this season. He was also recalled on November 12 and made his Lightning debut that night in Pittsburgh. In playing his first NHL game of the season, he logged 11:57 of ice time. He was signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent on July 23, 2010.
Pouliot appeared in 35 games last season with the Edmonton Oilers, scoring seven goals and 14 points. Pouliot also skated in four games with Edmonton’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons, scoring one goal and six points.
A sixth-year pro, Pouliot has appeared in 177 career NHL games between the Lightning and Oilers, scoring 21 goals and 53 points. In 176 career AHL games between the Admirals, Falcons, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Hamilton Bulldogs, Pouliot has scored 59 goals and 153 points. Pouliot was drafted by the Oilers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The Admirals will attempt to close ground on first place as they host the East Division-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight at Scope at 7:30 p.m.
Tonight, the Admirals and local SPCAs will team together for Puck 'n' Paws Night. Fans are welcome to bring their medium or small sized dogs (35 pounds or less) to the game.
