Tampa Bay Recalls Four Players From Admirals, Reassigns Alex Hutchings to Admirals from ECHL
TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled forwards Mike Angelidis, Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Trevor Smith along with defenseman Evan Oberg from the Admirals. In addition, Tampa Bay has reassigned forward Alex Hutchings from the ECHL's Florida Everblades to the Admirals. The announcements were made today by Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman.
Hutchings, 5-foot-10, 178 pounds, has appeared in 23 games with the Everblades this season, posting 12 goals and 24 points with 24 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. The second-year pro has appeared in 74 career ECHL games with Florida, posting 25 goals and 50 points with 65 penalty minutes. Hutchings appeared in four Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Everblades last season, posting one goal and three points. He has also appeared in one career regular season AHL game and one career Calder Cup Playoff game – both with the Admirals last season.
Selected by the Lightning in the fourth round (93rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Hutchings appeared in 229 career games of junior hockey with the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts, posting 111 goals and 208 points from 2006-07 to 2009-10.
Angelidis, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, has played in four games with the Lightning, recording five penalty minutes. He has played in 49 games with the Admirals this season, recording 12 goals and 23 points. He ranks second on Norfolk with 123 penalty minutes and is tied for sixth with 12 goals. The Woodbridge, Ontario native scored his first career goal in his NHL debut with the Lightning on January 24 versus the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Oberg, 6-foot, 191 pounds, has skated in two games with the Lightning this season, recording a plus-2 rating. He was acquired by the Lightning with Mike Kostka from the Florida Panthers on December 2 in exchange for James Wright and Mike Vernace. He made his Lightning debut on January 24 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Oberg has played in 35 AHL games this year with Norfolk and the San Antonio Rampage, recording five goals and 18 points with a plus-8 rating. He has played in 23 games with the Admirals, notching five goals and 16 points with a plus-10. Oberg has played in 148 career AHL games with the Admirals, Rampage, Rochester Americans and Manitoba Moose. He has also skated in five career Calder Cup Playoff games, all with Manitoba during the 2009-10 season.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, has played in eight games with the Lightning this season, collecting two assists. The North Vancouver, British Columbia native has played in 15 career NHL games with the Lightning and the New York Islanders, recording a goal and three points. He has played in 50 games with the Admirals this season, recording 21 goals and 57 points. He ranks second on the Admirals for points, goals, assists and in plus/minus (+26).
Labrie, 6-foot-2, 218 pounds, has played in eight games with the Lightning this season, recording one assist and 10 penalty minutes. He recorded his first career NHL point (assist) with the Lightning on January 21 at Phoenix. The Baie-Comeau, Quebec native has appeared in 42 games with Norfolk this season, tallying 13 goals and 30 points. Labrie leads the Admirals and ranks second in the AHL with a plus-27 rating and ranks third (tie) on the club in penalty minutes with 90.
