Lightning Recall Tokarski, Reassign Goaltender Pat Nagle to Admirals

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have recalled goaltender Dustin Tokarski ("toh-KAHR-skee") from the Admirals on an emergency basis. In addition, the Lightning have reassigned goaltender Pat Nagle to the Admirals from the ECHL's Florida Everblades. Lightning Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman made both announcements today.

Tokarski, 5-foot-11, 198 pounds, has appeared in 40 games for the Admirals this season, posting a 27-11-0 record with four shutouts, a 2.34 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. Tokarski leads the American Hockey League in wins, is tied for fourth in shutouts and is 11th in goals-against average. He had won an AHL Admirals franchise record eight straight games before being recalled, posting two shutouts, a 1.75 goals-against average and .927 save percentage during the streak.

Tokarski has appeared in 141 career AHL games – all with the Admirals – from 2009-10 to the present, posting a 75-56-7 record with 10 shutouts, a 2.51 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. His victory last Saturday over the Springfield Falcons tied Michael Leighton for the most wins in Admirals history.

Tokarski has appeared in two career NHL games – both in relief with the Lightning during the 2009-10 season. In those games, he did not record a decision after stopping 13 of 16 shots in 44:21 of work.

A native of Watson, Saskatchewan, Tokarski played three seasons with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, posting a 77-39-7 record in 124 games with a 2.18 goals-against average. He backstopped the Chiefs to the 2008 Memorial Cup Championship, while being named the most valuable player in the playoffs, the top goaltender in the playoffs and was named to the playoff All-Star Team.

Tokarski helped Canada to the Gold Medal at the 2009 World Junior Championships, posting a 4-0 record with a 2.65 GAA and a .906 save percentage. He turned aside 39 of 40 shots in the Gold Medal Game against Sweden as Canada won, 5-1.

The 22-year-old was selected by the Lightning in the fifth round, 122nd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Nagle, 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, has appeared in 38 games with the ECHL's Florida Everblades this season, posting a 19-14-0-3 record with one shutout, a 2.90 goals-against average and .903 save percentage. The pro rookie is tied for sixth overall in wins in the ECHL this season and is second in wins among ECHL rookies. Nagle has won five of his last seven games with the Everblades, posting a 5-2-0 record with a 2.50 goals-against average and .919 save percentage

A 24-year-old native of Bloomfield, Michigan, Nagle played in 101 career games with the Ferris State (Mich.) Bulldogs from 2007-10. During that time, he recorded a 2.32 GAA and a .916 save percentage with a 45-42-11 record with five shutouts. Nagle was named to the All-CCHA First Team in 2010-11 and was named a Hobey Baker Memorial Award candidate. He received CCHA Preseason Second-Team honors and was also selected to Inside College’s First-Half All-CCHA Team.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, Nagle played under Admirals head coach Jon Cooper with the St. Louis Bandits of the NAHL.
