NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals raised more than $67,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during Saturday's post-game Jersey Auction presented by PAPCO at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
One of the most popular events of the season added over $67,000 to the overall total of greater than $484,000 raised in the MDA Jersey Auction's 14-year history.
Fans gathered in the lower section behind the penalty boxes to bid on each Admiral's jersey one-by-one as they were presented by Admirals' Vice President Joe Gregory and public address announcer Rod Fitzwell at center ice.
The player jersey that rendered the highest bid was Norfolk enforcer and fan favorite Zack Stortini. The league leader in penalty minutes pulled the sweater off his back at the final price of $5,700.
