Anaheim Sends Defenseman Mark Fistric to Norfolk on Long-Term Conditioning Loan
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced Monday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned injured defenseman Mark Fistric to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Fistric, 27, is suffering a lower-body nerve injury and will spend time in Norfolk rehabilitating and conditioning back to full health before returning to Anaheim for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Fistric has played for the Ducks for the entirety of this season and has not been reassigned to Norfolk prior to the current occasion. He has five assists, 28 penalty minutes, and a plus-9 rating in 34 games played with Anaheim this season.
This marks the seventh season Fistric has played in the NHL intertwined with 148 career appearances in the AHL since 2006-07 when he made his professional debut with the AHL's Iowa Stars. Fistric has skated in 316 career NHL games to a plus-31 rating on the ice where he's tallied three goals and 31 assists along with 280 penalty minutes.
The Admirals gear up for a two-game series with the Hershey Bears starting on Wednesday, April 16, that may decide Norfolk's playoff fate. Both teams are tied in points in the Eastern Conference standings, but the Bears own the tiebreaker over the Admirals and also own the eighth and final playoff spot right now.
