Six months, one week and two days ago, the puck dropped on the Admirals' 2012-13 regular season. This afternoon, the final regular season game is played, and the Admirals have a chance to play beyond that.
Norfolk takes on the Providence Bruins at 3:05 p.m. from Providence, Rhode Island. The Hershey Bears take on the Manchester Monarchs at 5:00 p.m. from Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Admirals, Bears and Connecticut Whale each have 79 points and are tied for the eighth and final playoff berth. Connecticut's regular season has already concluded.
Only one of the three teams can qualify for the playoffs. These are the clinching scenarios, as provided by the American Hockey League:
Norfolk clinches a playoff berth on Sunday with: (a) a win at Providence AND a Hershey loss (reg/OT/SO) vs. Manchester, OR
(b) an OTL/SOL at Providence AND a Hershey regulation loss vs. Manchester
