Anaheim Reassigns Center Rickard Rakell to Norfolk

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced Thursday that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Rickard Rakell to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, Anaheim has assigned defenseman Luca Sbisa to Norfolk on a Long-Term Injury Conditioning Loan.

Rakell, 20, did not appear in a game for Anaheim following his October 28 recall. Rakell has posted five points (4g, 1a) in nine games for the Admirals this season. Rakell's four goals ties him for the Norfolk team lead, and is second on the team in power play goals (3). The 6-1, 192-pound center appeared in five preseason games for the Ducks last month logging an assist. Last season, Rakell went scoreless in four regular season appearances with the Ducks.

The Sundbyberg, Sweden native is a 2011 first-round draft selection (30th overall) of Anaheim. He totaled a balanced 149 points (68a, 81a) in three seasons with the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) from 2010-13.
